Made this recipe using Omega Irish yeast and it's one of the best beers I've tried.
I brewed the liquid extract version with the Muntons yeast. The beer was light in body and dark brown in color. Probably needs more steeping of the roasted barley grains. I ended up adding maltodextrin to make the mouth-feel more full. This clone is a bit off target.
Brewed the extract kit with White Labs yeast. The beer turned out weak. I tried it next to the real thing and it came up way short. It wasn't nearly dark enough and lacked the body of the original. It isn't a bad beer, but it just is not what I expected it to be. I wouldn't brew it again. When I think of a stout I want dark, rich flavors, which this lacks.
I really enjoyed this recipes. Smooth!
I used a yeast starter and it had CRAZY fermentation. Painted my ceiling. Use a blowoff tube on this one. It turned out very nice in the end. Highly recommended.
