HBU PACKS

Very disappointed with bittering HBU packs. I want to know what I'll be tasting.

My favorite so far after about a year homebrewing. It compares very favorably with the real thing. Lots of flavor. Dry Hopping was a first time experience for me but turned out well. I can't keep it around long. Doing my second batch now.

It's been 2-1/2 weeks since I bottled this beer, so tonight was my first sample. I had a bottle of the commercial version on hand so I could compare side-by-side. In a nutshell, the hoppy aroma was almost identical. The clone was a bit darker in color. The flavor was close, but I have to say, I actually prefer the flavor of the clone to the original. It's bolder and more robust, and although I am a fan of Red Seal Ale (and have been to the brewery/restaurant in Fort Bragg, CA many times) that is preferable to me. I think this recipe is a home run and highly recommend it. FWIW I brewed the extract version. As with the other commenter, this was my first attempt at dry hopping.
