Brewed on 6/26/2011. OG at 1.052 FG at 1.011. Used WLP001 California yeast. I brewed this before I got the immersion chiller so I used about 2 qts. of ice. Also I pitched kind of high, around 90ish. Either way the taste I got was something I wasn't used to or in to. Maybe it was the ice or the high pitch temp but I had a particular taste from my batch I could never get used to. I also bottled a few and drank another around 1/9/2011. The taste lived on so maybe it was something with my procedure. I would brew again because the commercial version is one of my favorite Texas beers.

This was a great kit. I brewed a mini mash version for one of my first batches ever and it turned out great. My friends and family are still asking about it now, about two years later. The clone is very close in mouth feel, color, and hop character to the Real Ale Full Moon Pale Rye Ale found all over town.

This was my first beer from AHS and I picked it up on a recent trip to Austin. First of all, their store is amazing. Anyways, on to the beer. I brewed the extract version and this beer tastes great. It is actually very similar to the commercial version but I'm not getting as much Rye flavor as I thought it would have. It's still kind of young though and I've only had it in the keg for about a week. So I'm sure it's gonna get even better.
