Grolsch Lager (3A) - EXTRACT Homebrew Ingredient Kit

I brewed up my first batch of Grolsch Lager in Aug. 2013. I used the Mini Mash kit with Wyeast Danish Lager 2042 and alcohol boost. OSG 1.052 FSG1.012 = 5.24% At 3 weeks after bottling it had still not cleared but it was quite drinkable and poured a generous off white head. As always I set aside several bottles to see how they age. Here it is about 6 mos. later and I am drinking one as I type these comments. The bottled Grolsch has still not cleared but it has mellowed significantly. Feb. 07, 2013. This batch has remained somewhat cloudy but seems to have aged very well. Slow pouring due to abundant foamy head that is slightly off white. Pleasant zest with fruity (I would say lemony) highlights and very slight bitter hoppy after taste. On a 1-10 rating scale I would give it a 7.

I had my first taste of Grolsch when I was stationed in Europe. It was wonderful. When I came back to the states, I tried an American Grolsch. Just not the same. This recipe takes me right back to the European version, the way it should be. I'll definitely be brewing this one again.
