Truly a special beer!

We used the White Labs WLP028 Edinburgh Ale Yeast. This is a very tasty, midweight (not light, not heavy) beer with a smooth finish. Will make this again, no doubt.

I have brewed this kit twice. The first kit was good, but a little thin. The second time I brewed this kit, I added a little Carapils to the grain bill. Came out GREAT. When presented side by side with real Belhaven Scottish ale, most preferred the slightly thicker mouth feel of the clone. However, in taste comparison, both batches were nearly identical in taste to the real Belhaven Scottish 80. AHS nailed it with this partial mash kit.

Excellent light ale. I would definately recomend it if you like real Belhaven.

Good and of style, but my brew is thin and only slightly peaty. This batch is rather close to Highland Gaelic Ale rather than to Belhaven. Caveat: This only my 6th brew and 1st Scottish Ale. 3* out of 5.

Made Partial Mash. A tasty beer. Very flavorful. Color is spot on with "commercial" Belhaven. Nose is different - not as "scotch-smelling" as original, but fragrant and pleasant nonetheless. Head nice and comparable to original. Taste is balanced and bright, like Belhaven, however not spot on. It is a delicious beer that got rave reviews from my friends. I did a few head-to-heads with original Belhaven. Some liked this clone better, some liked Belhaven better. If you like Belhaven Scottish Ale, you'll enjoy this "close" clone.
