My son who spent a year studying at Trinity in Dublin loves this and claims it is the original!
A little on the sweet side. near perfect clone
Served at St. Patty's day parade after 5 weeks from the brew day (Wyeast). We drank 4 gallons of this and 4.5 of the Irish Red: perfect compliment. Not one person mentioned any other stout names. I added 1L more water (lazy) so it was a touch thin. Not sweet, that's probably from stalled fermentation or.. Near perfect clone. Served from the Keg. I was surprised how good it was. My thought is since I don't have N2 it would not..... (Guiness)...or good, but it was great!
Not too sweet here. Made a big starter. May have been a mistake as it tastes generic. Not bad, but I think the ferment may have been too clean. Used White Labs Irish Ale Yeast and kept fermentation temps on the low side. Needed a little more maltyness to be spot on, but my gravity was a point low. I would buy this kit again. Boil a little longer... And make a smaller starter.
