I just transferred this to my secondary fermenter today. I'll post results when it's done - unfortunately I can't get my hands on a REAL Alpha King Pale Ale because they don't distribute to my area in PA but I will definitely post a review in 2 weeks when I keg and tap this!

I agree with Rob. Just tasted my first bottle of this. Brewed the extract and did a side by side tasting with the real deal. The real Alpha King has more pop to it. It seems it has more fruity flavor. Something is missing with mine. It seems more plain. I'd skip this one and hit the Dreadnaught or Zombie Dust. As rob said, it is still a solid beer and won't go to waste, but it's just not as punchy. Hoping a bit more aging may help.

I miss 3 Floyds. A lot. Moving to Texas has stripped me of my Alpha King, Gumballhead and Pride and Joy which makes me sad. However, this kit makes me happy, very very happy. Myself and another Chicago ex-pat cracked open two of these last night and wer very happy with the results. This is the best 3F clone that I've done so far, and I'll be brewing this again in the future. A+++++ WOULD DRINK AGAIN.

I have to say this is the first AHS clone that I'm disappointed with. I made the extract recipe and followed the directions exact. I normally add more hops than instructed, but I made to sure follow this closely. I kegged and tapped this about 2 weeks ago and it's so-so. It's not bad. I'm getting a nice aroma from the hops, the lingering bitterness is there, the body is there with nice carbonation. Tastes are good but no finish. It's a bit weak in final flavor. I really can't compare this to the original, since I can't get Alpha King in PA, but this is one that I probably won't make again anytime soon. Something is missing. OG and FG matched up so I'm not sure what went wrong. It should be really tasty by now. All this being said I can say is that it's better than a lot of commercial beers I've had, so it definitely will not go to waste in my house! I really had high expectations for this brew.
