A bit maltier than I expected. Still very good. One of the better ones Iíve had.
(Mini-mash version with S-23 yeast) This was my eighth extract brew and everything went accordingly, hitting the final gravity. I kept it in primary for three weeks submerged in a swamp cooler in my 68-70F basement (so, probably a bit on the warm side). However, the flavor is really nice. Doesn't seem overly fruity as a result of temps. In fact, it has a nicely pronounced maltiness and those Northern Brewer hops really provide a good balance and bitter bite. My only issue is that after five weeks in bottles, it is minimally carbonated---just a bit above flat. I can't figure out why since my process was the same as before and I've never had problems with carbonation. Other than that, these go down easily and it's been a good choice for a summer beer. Recommended!
Brewed this about 9 weeks ago and it is phenomenal. I modified the recipe a little but by dry hopping with an ounce of Perle hops in secondary. Great fruity tones balanced nicely with the pineness of the hops. Will definitely brew again.
This is an excellent recipe, very nicely balanced. I made the mini-mash with S-23 dry yeast and dry hopped for 2 wks with 1oz northern brewer hops. It was best 5-6 wks after bottling. Better than commercial Anchor Steam.
