AHS 1492 Pale Ale - Minimash

This is a great recipe - minimash. A very smooth pale ale. I add an alcohol boost to get a 6.2% abv. One of my favorites!

Great beer!

When columbus sailed the ocean blue...This is a great beer. I will definitely make it again. Hoppier than I expected but only in a good way! I did the liquid extract. Three weeks in the primary, no secondary and then three weeks in the bottle. Need to do again soon!

A new standard in our home

This beer is incredible, and so easy to brew. I did the extract version. The taste was the exemplar of a Pale Ale. I introduced a bunch of foreigners to homebrewing with this beer and they still tell me they cannot believe I actually made this. The 1492 will become a standard in my homebrewery. Thanks AHS!

Great summer brew

I brewed the AG kit with my BIAB setup. The only issue I ran into was how long the Krausen on the greenbelt yeast stayed up top. It remained up top for 12 days even though fermentation had completed long before that. It eventually fell on it's own. Prior to dry-hopping the beer was crystal clear. The hops added a lot of debris, so I would suggest a cold crash prior to kegging/bottling. This yeast did a quick bottle condition while primed with sugar. I had an early tester bottle 4 days storage, 2 days fridge and it tasted fantastic. The beer itself is kind of a mix between a light IPA and a wheat, with very citrusy notes. It's a great summer beer and I will certainly make this one again soon.

Classic Review

Brewed this three weeks ago (mini-mash version) and tapped it yesterday. I'm happy -- very drinkable and I expect it will only get better with a little age. I don't like "extreme" IPAs and this one is just hoppy enough without going over the edge. Would buy this kit again. Thanks to Columbus and AHS for "discovering" this hop.
