First off, this is a monster beer. I had no business trying a beer this big with the limited skill-set I've got, but did it anyway, as it presented the opportunity to try to some new techniques and equipment (pure 02, wort chiller). I got a stuck fermentation around 1.070, and it's been a beast to restart. DEFINITELY need a starter - again, something to learn for next time. That being said, the notes are big, sweet, belgian esters and pretty dern close to Samael (which is one of my favorite beers, so I've drank a LOT of it for comparison). We will see when (if) it finishes out, but this is not a beer for the novice to try, and it's pretty dern expensive when all the parts are assembled, so I would wait if you are not the type that like challenges. The ingredients are solid, the kit parts are comprehensive, and the instructions are more or less concise (although a little general). A good kit that no one else, to my knowledge, is making, and one I will certainly try again.
