Lightweight dark ale

I had high hopes for this recipe, having fond memories of Bert Grant's Imperial Russian Stout. Unfortunately, this one turned out to be a fairly lightweight dark ale and nothing more. I would not even call it a Stout, much less an Imperial Stout. As a dark ale, it is just so-so. Nothing terribly objectionable about it, but nothing to recommend it either. Zero stars for an imperial Russian stout. Two stars as a lightweight dark ale. Average of one star.
