This is one of my favorites I have ever made. Decided to try a beer that everyone would enjoy (not too hoppy or too strong). Made for a wedding reception; turned out to be one of the best if not the best beer I've ever made. Will brew again, went fast - good comments from all who tried.
New brewer as of Dec'14. Have made this beer twice now and both times it turned out excellent. As good as what you get in SF!
I made the AG version with the Wyeast California Lager, and it turned out great. I fermented around 60 degrees and am happy with the flavors the yeast imparted at that temperature. Next time I might try a little warmer to see what else the yeast could add. Definitely a great recipe...go for it.
This recipe is fantastic! It is better than commercial Anchor Steam. I have brewed it twice, once in bottles and currently I did three batches and placed into a 15.3 gal keg with carbonation. It is simply outstanding. I used the mixed recipe (mini-mash). I have been home brewing for 35 years and this is the beer I will make for my son's wedding party.
This is an oustanding beer, better than the store bought or tap. I had friends in town and this on tap and we found a bar that had this on tap. I used the alcohol boost and I think that was the difference b/t the true brew an this. My wife and friends loved it. I will brew this again.
