My wife's favorite!

I wanted to try a watermelon beer, and chose this kit from AHS. Based on the reviews, I used real watermelon juice and only half of the flavoring provided. We pureed 1/2 of a large watermelon, and this gave me 6 cups of juice which I added directly to the fermenter. This beer went from brew day to tap in 2 weeks, and it is easily one of my top 5 beers of all time. I've been brewing for 22 years, so that says a lot. It has a very good initial smell, and good initial watermelon flavor, and then changes to a good beer flavor at the end leaving no aftertaste. It's my wife's favorite in my 22 years of brewing. I will be ordering again as we are already down to a gallon and a half left!

You wouldnít know this was a clone

I brewed this with my brother since he has never home brewed before and it surpasses every expectation for a quality summer beer! I followed the advice of some of the other reviewers here and only used about 2 ounces of the extract on bottling day, but with one twist. We juiced and strained half of a seedless watermelon into the bottom of my conical primary fermenter on brew day. We ended up with about 3 fluid cups of watermelon ìjuiceî that mixed with the wort as it fermented. The extract that came with the kit rounded off the fruity notes without resulting in the chemical flavoring that some others described. 1 week in the fermenter, two weeks in the bottle (even though the instructions stated 3 weeks would be best) and this batch was drink-ready. Iím going to have to order and make another right away because thereís no way this will last. Probably my favorite kit Iíve ever made and will absolutely make this again .

Great Brew

Have gotten a few kits from AHS and this one by far has had the most request to do again. Great beer and look forward to doing it again

By far the worst kit I've brewed. I should have used a very small amount of the watermelon flavoring. It's overpowering. I don't think it's drinkable and that says a lot because I can drink almost anything. How do you give zero stars.

AWESOME

Awesome summer brew. After reading the reviews I only used about 1/4 of the hops, 3/4 of the flavoring and about half the 'boost' Came out with a very smooth and pleasant 5.51 abv. Two weeks in the primary, two more weeks in a secondary carboy, then three weeks in a "corney keg". 14# on my co2 regulator and chilled for 48 hrs. WOW, WOW, WOW! What we got was a slight watermelon aroma (just a teaser) and a slight watermelon taste, (no after taste). Truly amazing.
