Great Brew

Have gotten a few kits from AHS and this one by far has had the most request to do again. Great beer and look forward to doing it again

By far the worst kit I've brewed. I should have used a very small amount of the watermelon flavoring. It's overpowering. I don't think it's drinkable and that says a lot because I can drink almost anything. How do you give zero stars.

AWESOME

Awesome summer brew. After reading the reviews I only used about 1/4 of the hops, 3/4 of the flavoring and about half the 'boost' Came out with a very smooth and pleasant 5.51 abv. Two weeks in the primary, two more weeks in a secondary carboy, then three weeks in a "corney keg". 14# on my co2 regulator and chilled for 48 hrs. WOW, WOW, WOW! What we got was a slight watermelon aroma (just a teaser) and a slight watermelon taste, (no after taste). Truly amazing.

Not bad at all! I brewed this primarily for the SWMBO since I generally don't drink fruity beers (See: Man Law Ch. #1 Sec. 8.7) but it turned out to be a great hot weather beer. I left it in the primary for just under 4 weeks and added the alcohol boost to give it a little extra "kick". It definitely improved after a few weeks aging in the keg. This beer was supposed to be saved for a vacation in August but it's not going to last!

Firstly, I would like to say that I love AHS!! These dudes are my go to company, and my friends and I have enjoyed every kit I've brewed very much! ...until now. Not horrible, but this kit was sort of a let down. A rather light bodied, somewhat watery wheat beer base combined with an overwhelming amount of watermelon extract. This beer is has an incredibly intense candy watermelon aroma and somewhat artificial chemical like aftertaste. I think this has potential to be a good beer, but there is just too much flavor extract put into play. I wouldn't say that you should not buy this kit, but if you do maybe try halving the extract. The included 3oz of watermelon extract really seems to overpower the beer.
