This Southern English brown is darker and sweeter, but lower in alcohol and less hoppy than the Northern English brown. It is similar to Newcastle.

Classic Review

An easy drinking, approachable brown ale. Not much hop character, but that's the point of this style. This is a great one to hand to someone who isn't into craft brews or homebrew and say "Try this." The mellow character helps people who don't normally like darker beers have a successful experience with something that has some color. It's also one of the 50 cent kits, so its a great house brew to have around for people that don't like stronger beers.

Very good. Tastes a little more chocolaty/toasty than I prefer. Very little hops.
