Smooth, malty, always delivers

I've brewed both the DME and all grain versions of this recipe and both are fantastic and consistent. This review is not only my positive reaction, but echoes the response of some 20 people that helped me drink both batches. If you're looking for something you can serve both beer aficionados and casual drinkers alike (even non-beer drinkers liked it), this is a sure-fire crowd pleaser for a winter party. It's deliciously malty without a sweet, sticky aftertaste, and has a light balance of flavor hops that keeps the refined pallettes in the room interested. With a true brown ale mouthfeel, this beer is dark and feels full bodied without the weight of a porter or stout. Both of my batches came out slightly above the target ABV at 5.1%

This turned out to be a very good beer. I didn't follow the recipie exactly. I changed out the yeast for White Labs European Ale yeast (WLP011) and I added Hazelnut/Noisette Liquor Quick brand at bottling time. The final product had good body and character and the hazelnut flavoring wasn't even wierd. This is my second brewing of the AHS nut brown and both times it has been one of my better brews.

This was my second homebrew and it was excellent. I kegged after 1 week of primary and 1 week of secondary. I couldn't resist and started drinking after about 10 days of carbonation. It definitely needed more time but was pretty good. After two more weeks, this Nut Brown was amazing. I had beer drinkers enjoy it and even non-beer drinkers liked this brew. Very satisfied!! Just note, should age for at least 1 month for best taste.

A little hoppier than I expected and not as malty. This is a plesant beer that is not too heavy. Needs at least one month before drinking for smooth flavor. I will brew again.

I brewed the mini-mash. This is my favorite AHS recipe so far. I even took it to a party where most of the people drink your typical American Lager and it was a crowd favorite. A few of the people even ask me to this day when I'll be brewing the Nutty again. Of course I have to tell them it'll be awhile. There are so many other beers I have to try first!
