AHS Heller Bock (5A) - ALL GRAIN Homebrew Ingredient Kit

Used the LMM version - my first brew. I didn't perform temperature control exactly and did a diacetyl rest too early. It's been bottle conditioning for 4 weeks and it has not lost the off flavors - definitely not a simple beer for the first timer. Start off with ales that have an OG at or below 1.5, work your way up to lagers, do a few then try this. It's simply a big beer that needs and experience hand.

This is what I would consider a "serious beer" Malty, High in alcohol content. I took this to a beer tasting party where I presented 12 other homebrews of mine. I expected only the "serious" beer people to appreciate it.. I was surprised this one got the most favorable comments. Wives of my brewing buddies who claimed not to really like beer (they perferred wine) said that it was the best beer at the whole tasting. While I didn't agree with that, I personally feel that the burning alcohol sensastion that I get in my upper palate is too strong. It is still dang tasty. It loves to age, so let it.
