I think this is a very close clone. I brewed the extract version and used the recomended wyeast. Great kit, I will be brewing the mini-mash version soon.

I brewed the extract kit. After being in the bottle for 4 wks I openned the first bottle. I did a side by side taste test. The Moose drool was a bit more malty then the kit I brewed. That being said, the beer was still very good. No complaints. Its been a few more wks and the kit has aged very well. Its more complex and has gained some of the maltyness it was lacking in the beginning. Very good head retention too. An excellent clone!

Mini-mash, very close, very very good. I will brew this one again. It had a little smoother mouth feel than moose and I reduced the priming sugar a tad.

This was the first Mini-Mash beer kit I have used. After ageing in bottles for three weeks it still had a lot of the hops taste but very good. After six weeks it was a lot better and brought back mummeries of my vacation in Montana. Loved it can't wait to make it again.

Since my previous comments were deleted for some reason, I thought I would try again. I did the mini-mash with liquid extract and WLP002. Partial boil on the stovetop and diluted with boiled, cooled water. When compared side-by-side to the commercial version, my homebrew was darker (due to partial boil?) with a stronger roasted flavor and less residual sweetness.
