We produced this very light and neutral recipe by popular demand. This beer has less carbs than most beers. This recipe uses Alpha-Galactosidase enzyme to reduce the carbs.

We have put on some pounds in recent months with consuming our beer, so decided to try this Low Carb Ale. This beer turned out better than expected. When I first looked at the recipe I was skeptical as it was so simple - 1 type of grain, 1 type of hops and that was pretty much it. I had my chest freezer with JC temp control free, so I fermented in there in the mid 60's. I did about 3 weeks in primary and then racked to secondary. I did about another 3 weeks in secondary before I kegged. The beer is crystal clear and is very light looking - almost like water. But it tastes really good. It is crisp and is similar to a Bud/ Miller/ Coors Light kinda beer (a little bitter though). I think that this beer could be one of our regulars. Next time I am thinking of adding 0.5-1oz of sweet orange to make a Oranjeboom kind of beer.
Good light ale with more to it than BMC light beers. This is the first beer that I've actually had finish on target FG. Moved it to my secondary after about two weeks in the primary. It finished up the last little bit of fermentation (not down to 1.008 target at transfer) and allow it to clear up/settle. After just a week in the bottle this one was carbed enough to drink. I would brew this one again. Going to see how well it goes over at a party this weekend.
Let me start off with saying this is only the third batch of beer I have made since I got back into brewing, and I didn't do all that much years ago. I made this mostly for my wife, she wanted a lower calorie beer option in the keggerator. I made it following the simple instructions, after 4 days or so I still wasn't seeing any action in the airlock, I gave the wort a good stir up with a sanitized spoon and covered it back up, the next day I started to see some big yeast activity. I let it sit in the primary for about 10 days, I kegged it and forced carbonation with CO2 and tried it last night. I thought that it had a very slight Belgian taste, a couple of friends were over and tried it and agreed with me. It is very light. I wonder if I did something wrong or that is what it is supposed to taste like. I will probably try it again sometime, definitely worth a try if you are looking for a lighter beer option.
Yep, I agree with the last poster. This is a good beer. We have been making and consuming so many beers and felt it necessary to find a lower carb beer to drink after a workout. This is the first beer of the evening followed by one of the others we have brewed. It settles out nice after a couple of weeks in the keg. It is better than most light beers or Mexican beer. This could be the one to keep on tap...
This turned out to be exactly what I wanted. I used white labs super yeast instead of what normally comes with the kit. After 3 weeks fermenting my gravity was at 1.003, I kegged at this point. The beer has a very very light taste. It reminds me of bud light with a bud like slightly sweet/sugary finish. There is no perceptible bitterness to me. I actually find it cleaner and more refreshing than bud light. It is great with a slice of lime. If you want a lager like ale that is easy to drink give this a try. I used 4 gallons of distilled water with 2 gallons of tap water so that water chemistry would not be an issue.
